Avid aviation buffs will be happy at the chance to visit this museum located at Anchorage. With the mission to preserve, display and honor Alaska`s aviation heritage by preserving and displaying historic aircraft, artifacts, and memorabilia, the museum aims to foster public interest in aviation and its history. With several aircraft on display, a restoration hangar, flight simulators, two theatres, and a Hall of Fame, it provides an emphasis on historic aircraft, aviation artifacts, and memorabilia that contributed to the development and progress of aviation in Alaska. This rather small museum is really specialized in the sense it covers the history of Alaska aviation with a focus on bush pilots. You can enter the museum through the gift shop to discover the four main areas inside. The inside galleries cover commercial aviation, bush pilots and a bit of military history. The storage hanger is the highlight having plentiful planes with a few that have been restored.
