Americaâ€™s most northerly national forest, the Chugach National Forest covers an area of 5.4 million acres, making it the second largest national forest of the country. The Chugach National Forest is also recognized as being the only US national forest that is 99% roadless. The spectacular landscape of Chugach National Forest stretches from the rich marine waters of South Central Alaska to the salmon & trout streams of Kenai Peninsula. Chugach is home to abundant wildlife including caribou, black bears, mountain goats, wolves, etc. In addition, there are 40 public use cabins offering endless winter & summer activities.
