Sedona

Sedona Chapel of the Holy Rocks

The chapel rises out tall from a thousand foot red rock formation, characteristic of Sedona. This beautiful church nestles in natural rock where seemingly it appears closest to God. This man-made structure partially built in the crevices of God-made rock was designed by a woman, artist and sculptor, Margurite Brunswig Staude. The building was completed in 1956. It stands between two peaks of red sandstone, visible but not overly obtruding on the natural skyline.

Its total height is 250 ft and the cross is 90 ft. The simple interior has through the large window behind the altar views across the valley to the mountains beyond. The sunset strikes the chapel from the front, naturally lighting the chapel in the evening. The Chapel is open every day and there is a small gift shop too.
