The Ouachita National Forest comprising 1.8 million acres is the largest and oldest National Forest in southern America. It is spread in 12 counties of Arkansas and two counties of Oklahoma. The six wilderness areas encompassing most of the Ouachita Mountains are filled with number of recreation activities like birds watching, hiking, camping, hunting and enjoying scenic drives. It has 60 developed recreation areas on 700 miles of trails and a wonderful glance of the historic activities. Ouachita National Recreation Trail is the most adventurous 223 miles trail which maximizes the hiking experience and also offers an opportunity for mountain biking in some parts of the trail.
