Built in 1869, Sacramento State Capitol is an impressive landmark structure. The building has an elaborately decorated 120-feet tall rotunda and opulent interiors featuring marble flooring, massive staircases and numerous chandeliers as also replicas of legislative chambers and state offices. The interiors are built in decor reminiscent of the late 19th century. Regular guided tours get you seeing Sacramento State Capitol Building and the huge Capitol Park that is home to California Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The gardens in the surrounding Capitol Park include trees from around the world. Home of the California Legislature since 1869, the State Capitol has seen major renovation restoring the building`s original look. Visitors can see restored historic offices of the Secretary of State, Treasurer and Governor of the State of California. You can see featured exhibits and if lucky may watch the legislators debate a bill or cast a vote.
