When to visit:
Southern California is famous for its relentlessly sunny weather, so even in the dead of winter one can visit, say, Los Angeles and still have every opportunity to enjoy decent weather. California is a big state, though, and weather is more changeable in other parts of the state. Areas like Lake Tahoe, or the mountains have winter sports and activities to enjoy in the winter. Winter snows can close roads in the northern most parts of the state.
Summer remains the peak season for visiting most of the state, but in most major cities and parks prices and crowds are an issue year-round. California is as expensive as it is popular.
