Beardsley Park

Beardsley Park was set up in 1878 on 100 acres of land that was donated by a rich cattle baron, James W. Beardsley. IT is located at the north end of Bridgeport along the Pequannock River. The park was designed by the famous architect Fredrick Law Olmstead who was also the designer for the Seaside Park in the city.

He created plan for a "pastoral" park using the existing contours of land and created a rustic arrangement of boulder and parterre. The park also featured a replica of William Shakespeare’s home, the Anne Hathaway Cottage that was built to commemorate the 300th death anniversary of the maestro.
