Christ Church Savannah

Founded in 1733 when Georgia was being established, Christ Church has been built more than twice but has always stood on its own foundation. Located on 28 Bull Street it was designated by General James Oglethorpe, founder of Georgia. The present building is the third one constructed after the first two burned down.

It is a one-story church with a raised basement and features an impressive Greek Ionic portico. This was the parish home of Juliette Gordon Low who founded the Girl Scouts in 1912. With two organs from England as part of its impressive musical program, the church offers concerts, orchestral performances, hand bells, and choirs. Visitors are welcome to tour the beautiful church or attend services.
