Oconee National Forest

Comprised of 114,641 acres & located between Atlanta and Augusta in Georgia, Oconee National Forest is a preserve which include large man-made Lake ‘Oconee’. The aim behind its establishment is to regain the farm land that was ruined by erosion. Although, the forest is comparatively smaller in size but it is highly productive & provides opportunities for little & general discoveries. Dyar Pasture - A water-fowl conservation project, is a lovely spot for visitors to enjoy the wildlife. This 60 acres freshwater wetland is established to provide precious marsh habitat. Waterfowl, wading birds along with other birds and wildlife are the regular visitors of this habitat. The Oconee National Forest also offers recreational opportunities including hiking, horseback riding, swimming, boating, fishing, water skiing and camping like Chattahoochee national forests.
