At 727 square-miles Maui, Hawaii is the 2nd-largest of the Hawaiian Islands. Maui had a resident population of 139,884 in 2006, the 3rd largest population within the state behind the islands of Oahu and Hawaii. More than 2 million tourists from around the world especially Japan, Canada and the continental United States, visit Maui every year.

There are many Maui activities and sightseeing opportunities to enjoy. Things to do in Maui include visiting the Maui Ocean Center and aquarium, a world-class aquarium with one of the best gift shops on the Island. The drive up to Haleakala's summit will give visitors excellent views of upcountry Maui. The Kihei coast features some of the best beaches in Hawai'i. Visitors interested in local fauna should check out the Tropical Gardens of Maui, or take a drive on the scenic Hana Highway to Maui's Ke'anae Arboretum.
