Built in 1834 Baldwin Home is the oldest building still standing in Lahaina in Maui. It served as the home of missionary and physician Rev. Dwight Baldwin of Durham, Connecticut and his wife from 1838 until 1871. Baldwin was the pastor of Lahaina`s old Wainee Church. The historic two-story building is made of hand-hewn timber, stone and coral and was both a centre for missionary activities as also a medical clinic. An impressive garden of local and exotic plants and fruit trees surrounded the home. The family’s grape vines still grow on trellises along the side of the house. Visitors can see personal and household items, including original antique furnishings that belonged to the Baldwin family. Enjoy the atmospheric experience of candlelit tours available on Friday evenings from 6 pm to 9 pm.
