Sandpoint

USFS Building

The U.S. Forest Service has its new office in Sandpoint at Ranger District on Forest Service property at 1602 Ontario Street. This new office was constructed following Bonner County and Panhandle Area Council`s acquisition of the 39,000-square-foot U.S. Federal Building that housed the Forest Service`s Sandpoint office. The building was proving to be large and costly and so this single-story, 13,400-square-foot structure was constructed. Located adjacent to the district`s current Sandpoint work center there are other buildings used primarily for storage of vehicles and equipment.

This 10,000 square foot building consists of a mixture of dimensional wood framing and traditional log construction and built to meet LEED certifications. A geothermal heating system and low-flow plumbing fixtures contribute to its LEED status along with the structure built using local resources.
