Washburne House State Historic House

Originally built in 1843, this Greek Revival-style home of Elihu B. Washburne, a prominent attorney and political adviser to Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant lived here until 1882; after which only the Sheehan family owned this place until 1968. Presently, this house is a state historic site managed by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency.
