The Museum also has strong collections of early twentieth century paintings, Malvina Hoffman sculptures, and Regionalist art from the 1930s and 1940s. The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art opened in 1989 and comprises of a restored Beaux Arts building with a newly constructed gallery. The 63,000 square foot museum displays temporary exhibitions of contemporary art apart from its permanent large collections of works that include the Riley Collection of ancient Roman portrait busts.
