With a variety of recreational activities on the sandy beach you get to enjoy boating, camping, fishing and picnicking on the Lake MacBride State Park lakefront. It offers an awesome swimming experience along with snacks and refreshments right on the beautiful beach area. Swimming is restricted to a designated beach area.

The MacBride beach is a great place for holiday makers looking to cool off on hot summers days. It is an angler's delight! You have walleyes, channel catfish, crappies and bluegill aplenty in this 812-acre artificial lake. Walleyes, channel catfish and muskies get stocked annually. Its the only lake in Iowa in which the prized Kentucky spotted bass can be caught. Good lake access is available for both shoreline and boat fishing.

There are seven boat ramps on the lake and one on Coralville Lake. Pontoons, motorboats, canoes and paddle boats are available for rent near the beach. Horsepower motor limit is in effect here on Lake MacBride from May to September. At other times there is an unrestricted horsepower motor limit operated at a no-wake speed. Any size motor may be used on Coralville Lake. Pontoon docking spaces are available for rental, as are dry-storage spots for boats.

Besides you have the State Park next door offering more fun to the outdoor enthusiast. So you enjoy more other than the boating, fishing, picnicking and swimming. You can also camp and hike here. Located in two units, the Park offers a modern campground, boat ramps, beach and boat rental, picnic areas at the northern unit. The southern unit located in beautiful shaded setting by the lake offers a non-modern campground, boat ramps, picnic areas, and a prairie.
