Barren River Lake Beach

Barren River Lake, a 10,000-acre lake in the slightly rolling, timbered countryside, is situated in the south central Barren County Kentucky. It is almost 35 miles south of the largest cave system in the world, Mammoth Cave National Park. This artificial lake was completed by the Corps of Engineers in 1964.

The beach provides a spectacular views of sunsets, along with boating, fishing, an 18-hole golf course, horseback riding, tennis courts, a beach, a pool, and a paved trail for hiking and biking. It has an abundance of largemouth, white, and hybrid striped bass, bluegill, channel catfish, crappie, and rough fish.

The lake's beach has 100 open slips, 40 covered slips, a launching ramp, rental fishing boats, and rental pontoons. The beach has a bathhouse complex, which is the best way to cool off on a hot summer day. The Quarry Road Watchable Wildlife Area at Barren River Lake allows the visitors to experience how animals survive in their natural habitat.

Just close to the Barren River Lake Reservior, you will find the Bridgadoon State Nature Preserve, located in Barren County. Dale Hollow State Resort Park is also in its vicinity.
