Council Grove Beach

Council Grove Beach, located between Missoula and Frenchtown, offers 186.9 acres of natural beauty, and hundreds of feet of Clark Fork River frontage. The amount of beaches available, depend upon the level of the river, but during the summer season, more sandy beaches are exposed and visited. Along with its beautiful park, Council Grove is also one of the most popular historical site. This is the place where the 1855 Hellgate Treaty was signed between the Salish, Kootenai, Pend d’Orielle Indian tribes and the U.S. Government, which created the Flathead Indian Reservations.

The Council Grove Beach provides incredible opportunities for summer fun at the Clark Fork River Ranch. It offers excellent fishing or you can explore the surrounding mountain lakes. Or you can also enjoy the challenging whitewater of the Alberton Gorge just upstream, a popular destination for rafters and kayakers alike. It also has a plenty of calm water downstream for canoeing or swimming. Beach Volleyball, Mountain Biking, or a horseback riding are few of the most enjoyable part of your stay.

When the volume of the water lowers, the area becomes a best playground for swimming, rapid surfing, and enjoying the sun and scenery. You can also enjoy the wide variety of nearby locations well worth visiting: Flathead Lake, the National Bison Range, Glacier National Park, and dozens of mountain lakes, streams, and golf courses.
