Whitefish Lake City Beach

Whitefish, a small town is located in the north-western corner of the state. Not only, it is the home place of most of the scenic locations in Western Montana, but is very much popular for its great skiing facilities in the winter. The Lake is situated in the small resort community of Whitefish, that makes an easy access to the lake, with a public boat ramp located at the City Beach near the downtown area.

Whitefish Lake is one of the most popular lakes in the State of Montana covering around 3,315 acres. It lies at the foot of Big Mountain. The Big Mountain is popular for its ski and summer resort offering winter (skiing, snowboarding, tubing) and summer (mountain biking, hiking). Different varieties of species of fish are found in the lake, such as the ever popular westslope cutthroat trout, a variety of other trout and northern pike.

Whitefish Lake City Beach provides a sandy swimming beach, that is beautifully landscaped. This beach provides picnic tables and barbecues under roofed pavilions, as well as sunbathing, docks and a public boat launch. It has a huge marvelous recreation area, Rocky Mountain frontage and restroom facilities. Food concessions and water craft rentals are available. It is also used as a vacation and picnic spot with the Lake itself being surrounded by summer homes and condominiums. You can enjoy boating, sailing and water-skiing on Whitefish Lake.

From 1 mile west on the shore of Whitefish Lake , a small 10 acre park is created known as the Whitefish Lake State Park. This park offers a beautiful forest, pleasant campground and a beach. You can enjoy swimming and fishing in the park. Children love the trains that rumble along the park's edge. Pets have to be leashed in the park and almost all the facilities are easily accessible.
