June through August is the peak of New Mexico’s summer tourist season, when crowds are the heaviest in the parks and cities, and prices are the highest. In the winter skiing is the main attraction, and the ski-season lasts from Thanksgiving through the 1st week of April in Taos. Off-season visitors won’t miss too much besides heat, crowds and high prices, with the notable exception of mountain skiing.
