Tom Steed Reservoir

Among the many beautiful lakes in Oklahoma, one such is Tom steed reservoir in Kiowa county is situated 6 miles northwest of the city of Snyder. The reservoir comprises of a total of 6400 acres of water. Recreation facilities like shelters, tables, grills, comfort station, boat launching ramp and swimming beach are available for public. The south area of the dam along with the otter creek offers picnic facilities. A bridge across the creek leads to nature trail through cottonwood, ash, elm, walnut and pecan trees.

The reservoir is administered by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. There are plenty of Waterfowl and dove to gladden the bird watchers. An extensive tree and shrub planting program is deeply rooted to increase wildlife and natural habitat. The reservoir is one of the best fishing areas with fishes like catfish,crappie,largemouth black bass and other varieties in store. The west dike dam next to the reservoir is a wonderful place to visit. Snyder lake close from here is a beautiful lake and it offers interesting stuff which completes the day.
