Cold Brook Lake Beach

Situated on the southern fringe of the Black Hills, Cold Brook Lake is 1.2 miles long and has 520 acre-feet of water. Managed by the Army Corps of Engineers, this lake offers a great variety or recreational activities year around including fishing, swimming, ice fishing, skating, cross-country skiing, archery, and electric motor boating.

Cold Brook Park has a sandy swimming beach that compliments the beach area for a day at the Park of picnicking, sunbathing, boating, disc golf or just enjoying time with others. It provides no lifeguards at the Park. People are expected to be responsible for their actions and the actions of any children they may bring to the Park.

You can go to three lakes, after reaching Cold Brook: Blue Lake, Long Lake and Portage Lake. You can go to the Blue Lake throught the beach and boat ramp. Access to Portage Lake is available at the picnic area and the campgrounds. The park has 51 campsites in two separate areas: 29 Improved and 22 Rustic sites. All sites have a picnic table and a fire pit.

Cold Brook is said to be a home to a championship 18-hole disc golf course. There are no green fees. Access to the course requires either payment of the daily entrance fee or an annual park pass. You must bring your own equipment. It provides fishing opportunities on all the three lakes The park has been home to many fishing tournaments and is a favorite among ice fishermen.

Horseshoe pits are available at beach, boat ramp and woods shelters and in the campground. The beach offers three shelters, which may be reserved to allow for exclusive use of the shelter and to guarantee availability or they may be used on a 'first come- first serve' basis if they have not been reserved.
