Lake Sherwood

West Virginia is blessed with many rivers and to avoid floods, people have made dams which gave rise to several lakes and reservoirs, one of them is Lake Sherwood, which comes within the Monongahela National Forest in Greenbrier County West Virginia.

When we talk about swimming on the beach, Lake Sherwood provided the swimming area in the whole of West Virginia. It has two sandy beaches one on the Island and other on the 'mainland' which are connected with a footbridge. Both of them do not have lifeguards, but the beaches are immensely beautiful and compels you to stay longer and bask in the glory of its nature.

In the swimming area we come across showers, flush toilets and and water fountains placed almost everywhere. Boats and canoes are available on rent. For public use there are three boat launches and a dock. The two boat launches are made available in the campgrounds while the dock near the concession stand.

Near the lake is the picnic area with its individual picnic sites and shelters. Every site has picnic tables, grills and waster receptacle. The camping area is spacious and all the facilities to make your stay more comfortable. There are three single-unit camping areas and one group camping area that make upto 94 family units.

You would love this place as it is completely family oriented recreation destination.
